A team of ghost-hunters have been called in to investigate strange goings-on at a disused shop in central Somerset.
The team from the Torbay Investigators of the Paranormal (TIP) are examining unexplained moving lights, also known as orbs, captured on infra red video at the weekend.
"Me group was called in to investigate reports of paranormal activity in the Glastonbury High Street property formally occupied by the Orthodox Way.
Overnight on Saturday the team, led by David Phillips, set up cameras in the part of the building which is at the centre of the unexplained activity.
Much of the alleged paranormal :disturbances take place in a part of the building which is thought to have once been used as a chapel and houses a large religious mural.
According to the building's owner Doug Hill, who wants to turn the property into a shopping arcade, certain areas have a very odd atmosphere.
He said: "It is the spookiest place when you go in.
"From my personal experience I felt very drawn to the building, which is why I bought it.
"Whenever I walk near the chapel area something makes the hair on the back of my neck stand on end.
"I had a feeling that there was someone watching me. Various people who have come in have said they felt the same. I felt that eyes were upon me while I was in there.
"Something else I felt was that the doors shut behind me and at one point I could actually see the door closing without me touching it."
Because of this David Phillips, who works in a theatre box office while not ghost-hunting, and his team travelled up from Torbay on Saturday morning and toured the building, sensing some of the spooky atmosphere.
Co-founder of TIP, Mr. Phillips, said: "It was very cold which is not always a good thing for what we are doing.
"When we first got there one of our girls said she felt the presence of a man on one of the staircases.
"My other friend, who is also a psychic, arrived later in the day and had a wander around the building.
"She also felt a very similar presence in exactly the same spot and she hadn't even spoken to the other girl before that.
"She got the impression of a community group presence, perhaps a family of some kind.
"She could also sense that the building we were looking at was once a wooden building which extended up the High Street towards the church in the centre.
"She also got the impression that the wooden building had burnt down at some stage."
The team later learned from its owner that the building had once been the centre of a major fire after which it was rebuilt.
Mr. Phillips has also claimed that the building may once have housed plague victims.
He said: "Another of our group also felt quite sick in two specific spots. He thought that maybe it was a place where someone had been very sick in the past.
"It is thought that plague victims may have been there at some stage in the past. "It was very interesting in that building and we hope to do it again some time hopefully when it's a bit warmer."
